Carbon monoxide poses significant health risks because it interferes with the body’s ability to transport oxygen. When inhaled, CO binds to hemoglobin in the blood, forming carboxyhemoglobin, which reduces the blood’s ability to carry oxygen to cells and tissues.

Symptoms of CO Poisoning
  • Mild Exposure: Headaches, dizziness, weakness, nausea, and shortness of breath.
  • Moderate Exposure: Severe headaches, confusion, vomiting, and coordination loss.
  • Severe Exposure: Loss of consciousness, brain damage, and death.

Even at low levels, carbon monoxide exposure can cause symptoms like headaches, dizziness, weakness, upset stomach, vomiting, chest pain, and confusion. Prolonged exposure or high concentrations can lead to loss of consciousness and death. Children, the elderly, and individuals with chronic illnesses are particularly vulnerable to the effects of CO poisoning.
