Matter Support
Matter Support for Sensereo Devices
Sensereo devices that support Matter over Thread can work with many smart home ecosystems, as long as you have a compatible Matter controller and a Thread Border Router on your home network.
This page explains what you need, what we have tested, and which hubs and apps you can use.
What you need
1) A Matter controller
A Matter controller is the hub or platform that adds the device and lets you control it.
2) A Thread Border Router
Thread devices do not connect directly to Wi Fi. A Thread Border Router bridges Thread to your home network.
In many homes, the Matter controller and Thread Border Router can be the same device, or they can be two separate devices.
Tested compatible ecosystems and apps
Below are options that our customers commonly use and that we have verified in real homes. Availability can vary by country, firmware, and app versions.
Apple Home
• Apple Home app on iPhone or iPad
• Home hubs such as HomePod mini, HomePod, and Apple TV models that support Thread
Google Home
• Google Home app
• Google Nest hubs and Wi Fi devices that support Thread
Note:
At the moment, Google Home has not officially announced full support for this specific device category. That said, many users have successfully added and used Sensereo devices in Google Home in real world setups. Platform level support and UI behavior may evolve over time as Google continues to expand Matter support.
Samsung SmartThings
• SmartThings app
• SmartThings hubs and Samsung devices that support Matter and Thread
Home Assistant
• Home Assistant app and web UI
• Works with Home Assistant setups using a Matter controller and a Thread Border Router
Homey
• Homey app
• Homey hubs that support Matter and Thread
Compatible hub checklist
Before you buy or set up, confirm your home has both items below.
• Matter controller present
• Thread Border Router present
If you are not sure, send us your hub model names and we will help you confirm.
Setup notes
• Keep your phone on the same local network during onboarding
• Ensure your hub firmware is up to date
• If onboarding fails, reboot the hub and your phone, then try again
• Some ecosystems may not yet show all device categories in their UI, even when the device pairs successfully
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a separate Sensereo app?
No. Matter devices can be added directly to your smart home platform app.
How do I re-add the device after resetting it or when switching ecosystems?
Because Sensereo devices are Matter over Thread devices, they can only be paired to one ecosystem at a time.
If the device was previously added to another platform, the old pairing information must be fully removed before it can be added again elsewhere.
For example
If the device was added to Google Home and you now want to add it to Homey, please follow these steps.
1. In Google Home, disconnect and completely delete the device
2. Make sure the device no longer appears in Google Home or any other app
3. Perform a full device reset
4. Add the device again using the new ecosystem app, such as Homey
If the previous ecosystem still holds the device record, pairing in the new ecosystem may fail.
Will this work without internet?
Local control depends on your platform. Many Matter functions can work locally, but remote access typically depends on your hub setup.
Why does compatibility vary by ecosystem or app version?
Matter defines a common framework, but different platforms may enable device categories, features, and user interfaces on different timelines. This is a platform level difference rather than a product limitation, and it is something the entire industry is continuing to improve.
