Hong Kong – April 2, 2025 – Sensereo is thrilled to announce that our MS1 Smart Smoke Detector has achieved seamless integration with Apple’s HomeKit in the newly released iOS 18.4. As the first smoke detector brand to test this update, we are proud to offer enhanced safety features and a more connected home experience to our users.
While this integration marks a significant advancement in smart home safety, our testing has revealed areas for improvement. Currently, HomeKit classifies smoke detectors as standard sensors rather than critical alert devices, which may result in notifications that do not trigger immediate, critical alerts on iOS devices. This could potentially delay user awareness of smoke detection events. Fortunately, the HomePod’s Sound Recognition feature can detect the alarm sounds emitted by devices like the MS1 and send critical notifications to users’ devices, providing an additional layer of safety.
We are committed to collaborating with Apple to refine the integration and functionality of smart smoke detectors within the HomeKit ecosystem. We anticipate that future updates to HomeKit will address these limitations, further enhancing the user experience and ensuring timely alerts in critical situations.
