On March 14, 2026, Sensereo proudly sponsored and participated in the Home Assistant Open Day, marking the company’s second time supporting this globally recognized open smart home community.
As an active contributor to the open ecosystem, Sensereo continues to deepen its engagement with Home Assistant and the broader Open Home Foundation. During the event, the Sensereo team held in-depth discussions with Paulus Schoutsen, founder of Home Assistant, and Marcel van der Veldt, board member of the Open Home Foundation, exploring the future of open smart home systems, the adoption of Matter, and the role of local-first architectures in building more resilient and user-controlled environments.
The Open Day brought together developers, contributors, and ecosystem partners from around the world, creating a platform for meaningful exchange on interoperability, privacy, and long-term system reliability. These principles are increasingly seen as foundational to the next generation of smart home infrastructure.
At the event, Sensereo also shared its latest progress in Matter over Thread-enabled environmental sensing, including:
- MS-1, one of the first Matter over Thread smoke detectors globally
- MSC-1, the first Matter over Thread smoke and carbon monoxide combination detector
- Airo, a modular air quality system designed for scalable, distributed sensing
“At Sensereo, we believe the future of the smart home is built on openness, interoperability, and real-world context,” said Roy Chen, Founder and CEO of Sensereo. “Home Assistant represents one of the most important communities driving this shift forward. It empowers users not only to connect devices, but to truly own and understand their environment.”
Through continued sponsorship and active participation, Sensereo reinforces its commitment to the open smart home ecosystem. The company will continue to collaborate closely with the Home Assistant community and the Open Home Foundation, advancing environmental sensing technologies and contributing to a more transparent, user-centric, and intelligent home experience.
